Walker's Furnature

We have been looking for a nice leather Sofa and Love Seat for a while that mixed high quality and low prices and had just about decided on a nice set with "the new micro fiber" at Wilcox furnature at State Line that was in our price range. Labor Day came and with it a chance to go shopping one last time, on a whim we decided to head to Walker's Furnature in the east gate area to see if they had anything. Walking through the doors we were met face to face with our new set very beutiful leather, conservative design and priced less than what we had settled on in the "the micro fiber".

We enjoyed our shopping experience which took us from Wal-Mart to Wilcox (featuring a vast ocean of excellent choices), to Creek Side (my dream shop) to Walker who was having their Labor Day sale that made it possible to get our furnature at over half off.

Thanks ot everyone who helped us along the way and thanks to the Staff at Walker's Furnature for helping us make our dream come true.

On Saturday August 26th The Farmers Market will feature one other fun thing grown right here in the Walla Walla Valley. Some of the members of Walla Walla's Premier Martial Arts Demonstration Team. These young people will presenting Karate with a twist an extreme twist, they will be giving an Extreme Martial Arts demonstration and will giving mini sessions teaching kids and adults how to "Bust a Move" in a big way.

Today we just purchaced our fourth Auto a Dodge Calibre from Gilbert Auto, I am pleased to say that yet again Mark Gilbert and his crew gave us a real education in Customer Service. I thought that they had out done themselve in our last three purchases but they have definantly taken it to a new level. No wonder they now have 5 car dealerships in the Walla Walla Valley. Walla Walla Wines have no hold on premiums in the valley known for vintage performance Gilbert Auto has class and family values.

Walla Walla's The Little Dojo

The Little Dojo off of 6th and Main in Walla Walla has a wealth of information regarding self defense, Tai Chi, Chi Kung, and Aiki Arts. The Instructor Steve Smith has had a life time of interesting training experiences with Instructors including Kyama Shihan of the Kodo Kai Daito Ryu Aiki Jitsu, and Fook Yueng (an instructor to the Late Bruce Lee). Steve Smith is a self defense expert and has been interviewed radio and television in the areas of self defense. He also travels to Europe to teach and demonstrate.

The Little Dojo is just like it sounds LITTLE. The small space is a semi private training environment and attracts students who like to train deeply into the martial arts.

Walla Walla Community College Acting Camp

Yesterday we went to watch our daughter perform in the final day of the WWCC Acting Camp. We watched as the camp participants went through the team building games and improvization excercises that they had learned in the one week camp. which in and of themselves, beleave it or not were very engaging.

Paul Wickland the Acting Camp's main instructor was amazing with the teenage actors by in just one week teaching the young inexperienced actors to become a team able to interact randomly with the other cast members, learn the space of the stage, and how to project themselves to each other and to the audience conveying emotion and energy.

When we enrolled out daughter in the acting camp our hoped that she would complete the course get some confidence and make some friends. The transformation was in a word amazing, she was convincing in her part and helped the audience feel the story moving many to tears. The same was true of all the other participants.

I recomend the program at the college, contact Mr. Paul Wickland for information about the Acting camp and with donations to support this type of program in the Walla Walla community.

On Friday August 25 at 3:30 to 5:00 PM the public has been invited to watch and participate in this new Extreme Sport. The Fee is free for this exciting 1 and a half hour event. Wether you are a new martial artist, never tried martial arts or have been in Karate for years this event is for you. XMA combines the exciting elements of Dance, Gymanstics and Martial Arts to give the participant the same fun as extreme skate boarding or snow boarding and the audience and exciting experience.

Great After School Activities

We have been enjoying a very warm summer here in Walla Walla the sad part about that to the many children in the area is that it is almost time for school to start. The endless days of summer are almost at an end.

Walla Walla Kids enjoy a great school system and love their classes the challenge for many parents becomes what do I do with the kids to keep their learning in high gear. There are several challenging activities to choose from in Walla Walla. Premier Martial Arts offers a first class After School Karate Program that includes transportation from school. There is a Gymnastics program offered by M&M Gymnastics they do not have a wed page but are worth checking out. Rock Walla Climbing is avaialable at theYMCA and at Walla Walla Valley Academy.

As summer comes to a close and we get back to school lets keep our kids challenged and growing.

L'Ecole Winery

The L'Ecole winery leaves Visitor from France Speechless.

I took a visiting friend from France's wine country on a tour of the local Walla Walla wineries one winery left him wanting more. The wine was the Epogee. The experience great.

Great job to L'Ecole winery for a stand out performance; both in presentation, knowlege and just great wines.

A Great Experience at La Casita

Today my wife and I had a really great experience at the La Casita resterant. At lunch time today my wife and I went to the La Casita for a lunch and were treated not only to great Mexican food, we had a nice "dinner" at lunch time. From the fresh chips salsa and guacamole with a smile to the rice with shrimp ending with the great coffee. Walla Walla's critic left happy satisfide and well I hate to admit it pleased. La Casita is located on the main drag 9th street right next to the Matress Store.

The Walla Walla Critic highly recomends this Mexican treat. For those with a Birtday you can enjoy complimentery fried Ice Cream.
